Zoom Script

I've read a few posts that said they couldn't get the zoom script to work. Knowing that I've run it before and was not all that impressed, I decided to do a review on it. My first impression of the zoom script was, "Uh oh, the wall hack is back". However after more testing, I've discovered it's more of a burden then a help.

When you setup the zoom script, you simply change the binds to whatever key you want, make sure the .cfg file is in your cstrike directory and that's it. When you enter a server, you type exec zoomscript.cfg. You will be knocked out of the current game, then immediately return to it, but when you re-spawn, you're in 3rd person. The view is just above your head and often times you get in the way of yourself.

While in zoomed mode, I felt like I was gliding more than usual. It's very easy to loose your bearings on where you are actually standing versus where you think you are. You might find yourself unable to move, then unzoom and find yourself in a hallway you didn't know you had entered.

Picture 1 is a pic of me getting in the way of myself while strafing left to right.

Picture 2 is a pic of the standard, standing still shot.

Picture 3 is the zoom with an mp5 in hand. You'll notice the zoom isn't that big of a deal.

A shot I'm not showing, but will describe, is where you walk up to a wall and you can see a lot of the map, if not all of it. However this is deceiving because you don't necessarily see the enemies, unless they happen to cross a texture the right way, then you may have a second or two to blast them through the wall, providing you have a weapon capable.

In-Game Shots:

Pros:

Cons:
 - Does in fact zoom your view a little and could help you in certain circumstances

 - You have the ability to see through thin walls and often times see your opponent

 - You tend to get in your way when strafing left to right out of zoom

 - In zoom, if you try to navigate the map, chances are you'll find yourself bumping up against and object a few times

 - Any close quarters battles are bad, zoomed or not

The Bottom Line:
If you try this script, you may find it's to your liking, if managed well. I personally wouldn't recommend this to anyone as a must have. It's buggy and degrades standard game play. It's not a large download, weighing in at < 2KB.
